When someone comes to you and says, “I have Good News, Bad News,” which do you prefer to hear first?
When Jesus was having supper with his disciples in the upper room, he had “Good News, Bad News” for them. The “Bad News” was Jesus was leaving them soon. Upon hearing this, the disciples became troubled.
To comfort the disciples, Jesus had 3 astounding statements of Good News for them (and for us today):
1. Location, Location, Location.
“I go to prepare a place for you.” (v.2)
An eternal room in Heaven with God.
2. Jesus the Standard.
“I am the way, and the truth, and the life.” (v.6)
Jesus is the way to follow, the truth to believe, the life to hope for.
3. Supernatural Power.
“If you ask me anything in my name, I will do it.” (v.14)
Promise for answered prayer to accomplish greater works than
Jesus’.
